
Amai is a community located in Ndokwa West local government area of Delta State Nigeria. Amai this community is close to Ogume town there share common boundary with Ogume. The people of Amai speak Ukwuani as language. The language of people of Amai is Ukwuani. They are the Igboid speaking people of Delta state called the Ukwuani.
Origin Of Amai
Amai is community under Ukwuani, the people of Amai settle where they there today which most of believe that they are from across the Niger and that they migrate from there and settle where they today called Amai. In search of fertile land and safety eventually establishing in a place called Amai where they are living today.

This masquerade called Mmanwu play a unique role Amai town. this masquerade is use for the celebration of the festival during the festival period, people do come from afar to celebrate the festival this help to promote the Culture and the tradition of Amai people son’s and daughter’s of Amai love the festival period. They use the period to showcase Love for one another.
Amai New yam Festival Celebration
i. New yam Festival which is called (iri ji) which means the new yam Festival Celebration.
ii. Tradition Masquerade: dancing with the masquerade to entertain people of the community.
iii. Thanksgiving: giving thanks to their ancestors offer prayer for a better year to come. Performance some rite in the land for More fruitful harvest to come.
The Occupation Of Amai
i. Farming: their into yam, cassava, palm produce
ii.fishing: They fish also in river as their occupation for survival.
iii. Trade: most of them are trade they are into trading, small scale trader and large business owners
